This creative competition’s mission is to encourage photographers from all over the world to illustrate the rich diversity of life on Earth and inspire action to protect and conserve it. Participants may send their works in six main categories: Art of Nature; Aquatic Life; Winged Life; Landscapes, Waterscapes, and Flora; Terrestrial Wildlife; Human/Nature. There is also a special category, Photo Story, and this year, its theme is “A Matter of Time”. Those wishing to compete have to send 6-8 photos with captions illustrating changes through time on our planet at a variety of scales. It’s worth mentioning that the BigPicture initiative is committed to equalizing the gender imbalance in the field of nature photography. Astronomy Photographer of the Year is a specialized photography contest dedicated to astrophotography. It is being held for the fifteenth time by the Royal Museums Greenwich. To compete in this prestigious competition, photographers from all around the world send their space photos: from stunning skyscapes to images of distant planets and constellations. The categories are determined by the contest’s specifics and include Aurorae, Galaxies, Our Moon, Our Sun, People and Space, Planets, Comets and Asteroids, Skyscapes, and Stars and Nebulae. Each participant may send up to 10 works. There are no separate categories for young competitors under 16, and participation is free for them. As part of the competition, two special prizes are also awarded. The first is the Sir Patrick Moore Prize for Best Newcomer. It was founded far back in 2007 and keeps motivating all iPhone photography lovers to pursue creative experiments. International Photography Awards is one of the largest and most prestigious photography competitions for photographers. It was founded in 2003 in the United States by gallerist and philanthropist Hossein Farmani as a subsidiary project of Lucie Awards. Its mission is to recognize the achievements of the world’s finest photographers, to discover new talents, and to promote the appreciation of photography. Whatever genre you work in, the competition will definitely have a category for you. There are eleven of them including Analog/Film, Architecture, Editorial/Press, Fine Art, Book, Advertising, Event, Nature, People, Sports, and Special.
